Easter 2020
Reflections of Mark 14:36 "Abba, Father," He said, "everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will." Jesus asked for a different story. And He submitted to the story that needed to be done. God's will be done. This is my charge.
- In this season of lent and sacrifice and hard pressed focus, I'm reminded of some deep truths.
- God is in the midst of writing my story. It's not the story I necessarily want. Yet it is mine. From Him. That is intimate and detailed and personal.
- My response needs to be that of trust and hope. Trust His hand even though it looks confusing, defeating, and pretty sad sometimes. Hope in the big plan. His big plan. I hope for something more and I trust his provision in the waiting. I am made for something more. Eternity. I'm grateful for this life. It is a carefully thought out story. It's not haphazard or incomplete. It is full and unexpected in such a good way. I trust God. I hope for more of this.
- My obedience will bring me peace. Fully trusting in God, fully knowing He's writing my story allows me to marvel at the crazy details. I wouldn't have picked them, mostly because they are more than I could have imagined. And partly b/c some of the details are stabbing. Why would I choose that? But they were picked and life has been lived and His plan is fruitful! His plan is beautiful. His plan has all sorts of purpose. Praise. Wonder. Peace.
- Every day we get a million choices and the most foundational might be 1) move forward 2) move backward. 3) remain where I am. Ah, forward… with God’s will... as here there is a stillness of knowing, a trust that illuminates all sorts of purpose, and a hope that gives flight.
